Management Committee (Trustee Board) and Sub-Committees

The MAP Management Committee is 12-strong. We need a balance of management, personal and professional skills, currently including law, H.R., IT and health. The trustees meet every two months, although there are also sub-committees in which they may be more frequently involved. For those who would like to help but don't feel ready yet to undertake becoming a trustee, the sub-committees offer a great way to get involved. Currently there is a Funding sub-committee, but if we could bring in the right people, we could usefully establish H.R. and Finance sub-committees.

For companies, the integration of trusteeship as an option in staff personal and management development programmes can offer considerable advantages to both parties. It can foster a greater understanding of the community served, and the challenge of problem solving in unfamiliar situations. In turn we can benefit from the new perspective, contemporary skills, and networking opportunities.

Volunteering

M.A.P. considers its volunteers to be an important part of the organisation. When a need for voluntary input is identified within a specific area of the Project, information will be disseminated through advertisement, and contact with people held on our database that have expressed and followed up an interest in volunteering for us. Potential volunteers undergo a selection process similar to that for other prospective staff. This consists of filling in an application form, and attending for interview if short listed. If successful, the new volunteer will take part in our induction programme for volunteers, and work in line with MAP's Volunteer Policy.

If you are interested in doing voluntary work in the community with young people, but are not sure how to go about it, give us a call and we can point you in the right direction.
