Welcome to MAP !
MAP Headquarters in Norwich

The Mancroft Advice Project, better known as MAP, is an independent information, advice and counselling service for young people aged between 11 and 25.

You'll find MAP informal, welcoming and entirely confidential. We're based in Norwich, but offer some services county wide. You can drop in any time between 1.30 and 5.30 pm Monday to Friday.

It is our vision that all young people will know what it is to be valued, and that they will have the support and information they need to make a successful transition to adulthood.

Who comes to MAP?

Anyone between 11 and 25 can use our services. There's space to just relax and have a cup of tea or coffee during drop-in hours. There is access to the internet to look job stuff up or play games. And if you need to call the council, we have access to telephones for that sort of thing too. If you want to talk to one of the workers just let someone at Reception know, so we can tell who's waiting and who's just hanging out.

Why come to MAP?

People come to get information or advice on all sorts of issues: housing, drugs, sexual health, your rights, benefits, money, the list goes on. If we can't help we generally know who can.

The Counselling Room (A safe place to talk)
"The Counselling Room"
a safe place to talk

People come just to talk things through, things that may be difficult or impossible to talk about with friends or family. Every weekday our counsellors are listening to and working with young people. There is usually a waiting list for counselling but we'll do all we can to speed things up in a crisis.
And everything you say at MAP is in confidence.

Why should I trust MAP?

We exist to help young people and to respond as best we can to your needs.
It is our aim to empower young people, to help build the personal skills and knowledge that will help you take control of your life.
We respect the value and uniqueness of each individual.
It is our aim in all our work to counter the discrimination so often faced by young people.
Our doors opened on November 4th 1991 and the demand for our work continues to increase. Many young people are recommended to us by friends.

So who does pay?

We're a charity, and get funding from many different places. At present these include other charitable trusts, the statutory authorities (health, social services etc.) and the Community Fund (Lotto money).

Where is MAP?
