Welcome to MAP !
Who comes to MAP? Anyone between 11 and 25 can use our services. There's space to just relax and have a cup of tea or coffee during drop-in hours. There is access to the internet to look job stuff up or play games. And if you need to call the council, we have access to telephones for that sort of thing too. If you want to talk to one of the workers just let someone at Reception know, so we can tell who's waiting and who's just hanging out. Why come to MAP? People come to get information or advice on all sorts of issues: housing, drugs, sexual health, your rights, benefits, money, the list goes on. If we can't help we generally know who can.
People come just to talk things through, things that may be difficult or
impossible to talk about with friends or family. Every weekday our
counsellors are listening to and working with young people. There is
usually a waiting list for counselling but we'll do all we can to speed
things up in a crisis. Why should I trust MAP?
We exist to help young people and to respond as best we can to your needs.
How much does it cost? There is a small charge for CV preparation and photocopying, everything else is free, including condoms and pregnancy tests. So who does pay? We're a charity, and get funding from many different places. At present these include other charitable trusts, the statutory authorities (health, social services etc.) and the Community Fund (Lotto money). Where is MAP? Between Theatre Street and Chantry Road in Norwich city centre, behind the Assembly Rooms. See directions for how to find us. But it's not easy for me to get into Norwich With Norfolk Youth and Community Services we offer counselling services closer to home for young people anywhere in the county via Off Centre. Telephone 0800 917 5917, leave a message and someone will call you back. Our Young Father's worker Andy works across the county. We also have a housing team working across the county. Details of their contact numbers can be given via the main telephone number, 01603 766994.
